Barcelona has an excellent nightlife, simply reason being that there are lots of foreigners, students, and locals alike. While in Barcelona, you will be able to find every kind of nightclubs, bars, dance clubs, jazz bars and clubs, sports bars, cocktail bars, karaoke bars and pubs. Whatever you’re looking for, Barcelona nightlife is bound to have it!
You can start by visiting Baja Beach Club
A nice relaxed night of conversation over a few drinks not your idea of a good time? Then Baja Beach Club, (Passeig Marítim, 34) might be more your style. The beach club features topless bartenders, waitresses in bikinis, and more bronzed, half-naked bodies than you can shake a stick at. Follow the hordes of students and tourists to one of the themed bars and dance the night away to sugary-sweet pop music. If you want to make a repeat performance of it, consider trying to get on the VIP list, where you’ll be implanted, yes, you heard us right, with a microchip in your forearm which connects to your bank account and lets you just wave your arms, literally, when you want another drink. How this is legal is beyond us, but who knows. . . it could be the future of clubs.
International Sounds
Ibiza party spot Pacha now has locations in a few other cities, and Barcelona’s on Avda. Donctor Marañon certainly lives up to the hype. The huge, stark white disco features the latest in great DJs from Ibiza as well as live music nights, six different bars, a chill-out room and a terrace. The crowd is young and hip, so be sure to break out your best duds to ensure you don’t get turned away by the doorman. Entry is steep, at €15 with a drink, but the amazing sound-system and never-ending beats make it worth the price. Check their website (www. clubpachbcn. com) to see special DJ nights and to get ont heir mailing list for offers and VIP section.
Great live music
Spain isn’t well-known for its live music scene, but Razzmatazz (c/Almogàvers) is trying to change all that. Not only do they attract top artists like Miss Kitty and Blur, it also brings together the most diverse group of dance fiends you’ll see this side of Berlin. It’s a huge warehouse space which brings together five different clubs, featuring funk, house and dance music. Downstairs, check out the latest indie rock at the Razz Club, or head upstairs for techno at The Loft and Lo*Li*Ta. Pop, electro and disco take center stage at The Pop Room and The Rex Room. Grab a taxi to get there, as it’s in an industrial part of the city about ten minutes outside the center.
“Jamboree jazz club” for lovers of jazz and flamenco this is your club. Its one of those places you can visit of your first night out in town, or if you love jazz, its one club you should not miss!
“Costa Breve”, an uptown club which is always crowded with party goers, is also a club for young university community that takes the place on Thursdays to celebrate their parties
Barcelona is as they say. . . a night life heven!

Rock ‘n’ roll music has always been about being a little wild and out of control. At heart, pure rock is just plain messy. Care to dispute that? Ask anyone belting out “Immigrant Song” at 1 a. m. in a karaoke bar.

Â

The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is a great example of that “messy” rock aesthetic at work. The band is just three guys, all of whom pour sweat, blood and tears into their songs. Crunchy guitars plus lots of fuzz and droning isn’t out of place on their albums, and the elements help to shape the band’s originality on the music scene. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s debut record in 2000 featured lots of squalling guitars and dark energy, both aspects earning the respect of critics. What influences were they hearing on that release? Well, let’s take a look at them.

The Jesus and Mary Chain: First and foremost among the influences you can detect in the BRMC sound is ’80s noise-rockers the Jesus and Mary Chain. Their unique style was to bury everything—the music, the vocals, all of it—in a cloud of guitar fuzz. At times, that cloud seems so thick that it almost works against certain songs. But ultimately, most fans of the band enjoy the dark atmospherics that the technique lends to their albums.

The Velvet Underground: If the BRMC can point to the Jesus and Mary Chain as a primary influence, then the latter can point to an older band, the Velvet Underground. Pretty much any rock band with dark lyrics and fuzzy guitars can cite VU as a primary influence. Heck, most rock bands have to cite them, period, because they’ve been such an important touchstone for so many artists over the years.

His music is always about the things that will darken a bit in the shadows, with White Light / White Heat emphasizing between his work as a classic example of noisy rock is scary. Both the first and last tracks played to “sex, drugs and rock and roll”, but the emphasis seems to be on drugs, with the guitarist John Cale, work sometimes best described as “lick.” It sounds as if the guitar is getting away from him, infected by its own power.

My Bloody Valentine: Like the two mentioned bands previously, My Bloody Valentine created their style of música rock with a strong sense of atm
